TWO LECTURER POSITIONS

The Department of Information and Communications Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona invites applications for 2 lecturer positions in all areas of interest of the department. We seek highly qualified applicants with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to teach at all levels. The Department coordinates teaching in Computer Science, Data Science, Audiovisual Systems Engineering, Networking Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. 

Interested candidates must hold a Lecturer accreditation from the Catalan or Spanish system. The Department is especially interested in 1) candidates whose teaching profile and experience show versatility to teach in diverse subjects of the different degrees, 2) candidates whose profile matches the major teaching needs of the Department: core Mathematics and Physics, Computer Systems, Audiovisual Technology, Network Science and Biomechanics.

Additionally, the following aspects will be positively valued:

  • Experience as subject coordinator
  • Experience on teaching similar amounts of hours to those offered at the position
  • Ability to teach both in 1) English and 2) Catalan or Spanish
  • Experience on teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses
  • Availability to join immediately (ideally between April and September ’23)

This is a full-time non-tenure-track appointment, with a gross salary of 35,765.70 EUR / year. Position appointments may be for a duration of up to three years. Teaching faculty positions are renewable for up to two additional years. Selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer. In addition to lecturing and course coordination responsibilities, general duties for these positions include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials and maintaining a course website. The teaching load of lecturer members is 160 lecture hours per academic year. Successful candidates are encouraged to carry out a research program, although this is not strictly needed.

1 Position Tenure track on Data Science

The Department of Information and Communications Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona invites applications for 1 position Tenure Track on Data Science. 

The candidate should hold a PhD in computer science and have a strong background in data science applied to one or several of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals. A successful candidate should lead research projects with social and economic impact. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged. The candidate should demonstrate outstanding experience in outreach and knowledge transfer to other institutions, companies and the public sector.

Teaching excellence will be highly considered (such as proved through students' evaluations, etc.), as well as expertise in courses related to data science, machine learning and big data related subjects, both at the undergraduate and master level. Previous experience in professional service will also be valued, as the candidate might be required to assume some management responsibilities.

3 Teaching Postdoc Positions

The Department of Information and Communications Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona invites applications for 3 post-doc positions in all areas of interest of the department. We seek highly qualified applicants with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to teach at all levels. The Department coordinates teaching in Computer Science, Data Science, Audiovisual Systems Engineering, Networking Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. 

The selected candidate will hold teaching and research responsibilities. Teaching will be done in subjects from the undergraduate programs of the Department with a total of 100 hours per year and aiming to become coordinator of at least one undergraduate subject. In addition to lecturing and course coordination responsibilities, general duties for these positions include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, and maintaining a course website.
