The  Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC) invites applications for a part-time lecturers in several courses in the Information and Communication Technologies degrees.

UPF is a young, modern, public university which, in only twenty-five years, has earned a place for itself among the best universities in Europe. Its DTIC is a highly competitive academic department with its faculty organized around the following research areas: multimedia technologies, computational biology and biomedical systems, computation and intelligent systems and networks and communications.

The specific areas and courses are the following ones:

  • Theory of Computing (TC) course: co-ordination, theory, seminar and lab classes as well as the preparation of teaching materials, course design and assessment.

TC is a second-year course in a computer science engineering program that introduces the basic concepts of computer theory. The topics are divided into three blocks: regular languages (basic notions, regular expressions, deterministic finite automata (DFA) and non-deterministic automata (NFA), equivalence between DFAs, NFAs and regular expressions, minimization of DFAs, (Context-free grammars, PDAs, equivalence between CFGs and PDAs, ambiguity, normal Chomsky form, non-context-free languages), and computability theory (Turing machines, languages Decidable and non-decidable, diagonal, universal and stop problem, reductions).

  • Introduction to Parallel and Distributed Programming  (IPDP) course: co-ordination, theory, seminar and lab classes as well as the preparation of teaching materials, course design and assessment.

IPDP is a second-year course that includes the following topics: parallel / distributed programming models: shared memory vs. Message passing, multiprocessor / multi-core organization in shared memory.

The Department is also looking for part-time lecturers (labs, seminars or theory) in several courses and areas:

  • Functional Design of Programs
  • Operating Systems
  • Transmission Media and Circuits
  • Computer Graphics
  • Network Architecture
