EVOTERM

Lexicalization processes and complexity of speaker communities in the diachronic study of terminology and specialized discourse in Economics and Computer Science

EVOTERM is a project in the research line of linguistic change, which has very clear antecedents and is still in full development for many languages, with a focus on lexical change and specifically on the terminology of specialized discourse, which makes it an innovative project. Lexical change has been considered a minor change from the historicist perspective of language, however, it is fundamental to the study of specialized discourse and its correlation with the evolution of the various scientific and technical disciplines.

The project focuses on the analysis of the conditions of terminological change, which within linguistic change introduces some interesting differences, such as reduced temporality, the relevance of less controlled or formal genres or the important role of speakers in specialized discourse or specialized communication communities, which have progressively increased in complexity.
