(This translation into English is of an informative nature. The official version is originally in Catalan.)
Article 1. Scope of application
1.1. Visiting students are defined as those students who are studying a set of either degree (or equivalent) or postgraduate subjects at Pompeu Fabra University and are not part of an exchange programme signed by Pompeu Fabra University.
1.2. Rules governing visiting students are set out in the present regulations, except when an agreement exists between Pompeu Fabra University and the centre from which the student in question has come; in this case, preference will be given to the application of the provisions made in said agreement.
Article 2. Requirements and admission procedure
2.1 Degree courses
2.1.1. When applying, the visiting student will have to be registered with his or her own university at the same level of studies they wish to follow at Pompeu Fabra University.
2.1.2. The visiting student must submit a reasoned application before 15 May (if he/she wishes to begin the stage in the first term) or 15 October (if he/she wishes to begin the stage in the second or third term) during the academic year prior to his/her stage at Pompeu Fabra University, specifying the studies in which he/she wishes to take subjects. The maximum number of credits for which a visiting student may register during his/her stages at Pompeu Fabra University is the total number of credits stipulated by the regulations applicable to official courses for each academic year.
2.1.3. The aforementioned application shall be accompanied by an academic transcript of the courses done so far at the student's own university issued by the university itself indicating the scale of grades used; a detailed curriculum vitae; and a document accrediting the student's knowledge of Spanish or Catalan, if applicable.
2.1.4. It is the job of the dean or the director of the centre or course responsible for the corresponding courses to decide as to the student's admission to do subjects from the courses applied for.
2.2 Postgraduate courses
2.2.1. Visiting students who wish to do postgraduate subjects must fulfil the general access requirements for postgraduate programmes and the specific requisites for access to each corresponding master's degree or doctorate course.
2.2.2. The visiting student must submit a reasoned application before 30 June (if he/she wishes to begin the stage in the first term) or 15 October (if he/she wishes to begin the stage in the second or third term) during the academic year prior to his/her stage at Pompeu Fabra University, specifying the studies in which he/she wishes to take subjects. The maximum number of credits for which a visiting student may register during his/her stages at Pompeu Fabra University is the total number of credits stipulated by the regulations applicable to official courses for each academic year.
2.2.3 The aforementioned application shall be accompanied by documents accrediting fulfilment of access requirements, a curriculum vitae and a document accrediting the student's knowledge of Spanish or Catalan, if applicable.
2.2.4. It is the job of the corresponding committee of the Postgraduate Official Programme to decide as to the student's admission to do subjects or educational activities from the courses applied for.
Article 3. Registration conditions
3.1. Visiting students may only register for subjects that belong to the courses indicated in their application once admitted by each of the corresponding bodies.
3.2. In the event of being admitted, visiting students shall formalise their registration for the subjects to which they have been admitted within the general registration periods established for exchange programme students. Said registration will be subject to the availability of places on the courses applied for.
3.3. The Board of Trustees will set the price that will be required in order to register for this course mode.
Article 4. Rights of visiting students
4.1. The International Relations unit shall provide visiting students with a form of accreditation so that they may have a form of identification and be able to use the services for which, when applicable, Pompeu Fabra University authorises use, in the same conditions as for exchange programme students.
4.2. Visiting students have the right to attend the classes and be evaluated for the subjects they are registered for, in the same conditions as official students at Pompeu Fabra University, and also to obtain a certificate, issued by Pompeu Fabra University, citing the grades obtained.
4.3. Under no circumstances shall admission as a visiting student imply admission to the corresponding official courses, and neither shall any official validity be granted to the courses done at Pompeu Fabra University.
Article 5. Access to official courses
Visiting students may request access to Pompeu Fabra University by means of the usual procedures for access to official courses, for which they will have to fulfil the requirements provided for in the corresponding regulations. For admission to degree courses, the dean or director of the centre or course responsible for the course and, for postgraduate courses, the director of the department responsible for the Official Postgraduate Programme, having ascertained the validity of the programmes of the subjects studied, will, when applicable and at the request of the interested party, authorise that the qualifications they have obtained as visiting students be transferred to their official academic transcript, provided they correspond to the same study plan. Under no circumstances will the refund of the amounts satisfied for having done a course as a visiting student be applicable.
The regulation governing visiting student status approved by Agreement of the Governing Board of 9 January 2001 is repealed.
