Research at UPF
Why UPF?
The research in figures
UPF is a research intensive university that aims to be a benchmark at the cutting edge of modern science in Europe. Across its several campuses, UPF boasts a diverse, committed and stimulating research community that is active in a broad spectrum of disciplines ranging from Economics through Biomedical Research to Engineering. To foster transdisciplinary research, we are launching strategic initiatives such as the Mercat del Peix project within the Ciutadella of Knowledge and the Intermingling Science Lunches. Our research community and the science it produces are open to the world: we share the knowledge we produce, we engage the general public, and we have collaboration and partnership arrangements with many other institutions and research laboratories.
Funding Opportunities
A major mission of the Research Office is to help and guide researchers to attract funding. Here, you will find information on multiple funding opportunities and access to resources and services to prepare proposals.
Open science
Open science is an approach to the scientific process that focuses on spreading the knowledge generated by scientific research (including publications, data, samples, and software) as soon as it becomes available using digital and collaborative technologies.
We believe that the knowledge produced by a public university should be freely available to anyone, provided there are no legal or ethical reasons that should prevent or delay the release of scientific information.
PhD School
The UPF provides its PhD candidates with an extraordinary environment: several PhD programmes, cutting-edge laboratories directed by internationally renowned professors, modern and fast-developing campuses; and close ties to industry with the Industrial PhD.
Research integrity and ethics
UPF fosters a culture of scientific integrity that embraces the principles laid down in international research integrity and codes of ethics and institutional guidelines, and in national and international regulations. This is done by providing support to researchers on ethical issues and compliance requirements, and by raising awareness of good scientific practice.
Interdisciplinary science
We aim to generate first-class interdisciplinary science capable of addressing the global challenges we are currently facing.
