Funding for companies: maximum grant awarded, 22,800 €
The university where the doctoral student is doing their PhD and the company or public administration centre where they provide their services have to sign a mutual collaboration agreement.
Grant Payment
- o 7,600 € transferred annually.
- 3 years’ duration.
Eligible Companies
-
Private and public limited liability companies belonging to or linked to the public sector (research organisations are excluded).

Foundations and non-profit organisations, local, regional or central public sector organisations, consortiums that are predominantly publicly-funded and local councils.
Requirements
-
The company’s place of work must be in Catalunya.

A company manager (tutor) must be assigned to the project.
-
A 3-year work contract for the doctoral student must be established for the duration of the grant.

A minimum annual salary of 22,000 euros gross must be paid to the doctoral student as well as all taxes.

In the event that the candidate has already been in service at the company for more than 12 months at the time of submitting the applications related to the grant award, the company will not receive any funding..
Funding for university research groups: grant awarded, 22,800 €
The university where the doctoral student is doing their PhD and the company or public administration centre where they are providing their services have to sign a mutual collaboration agreement.
Grant Payment
- 7,600 € transferred annually.
- 3 years’ duration.
- Additional grant of 2,000 euros in the event that the defence of the thesis leads to the award of the title of doctor with an international mencion.
Eligible Centres

Public and private universities within the Catalan university system.

Research centres, technological centres and hospital trusts with their headquarters in Catalunya.
Requirements
-
In the event that the research centres, technological centres or hospital trusts are making the application, the collaboration agreement must also be signed by the university within the Catalan university system where the candidate is enrolled.

The thesis supervisor must be a member of an active SGR group, ICREA researcher or the recipient of a grant from the European Research Council (ERC).

The same thesis supervisor can not receive more than 15,200 euros annually from the Industrial Doctorate Grants Programme (two yearly payments for research group funding).
Funding for Doctoral Students: maximum grant awarded, 10,800 €
The invitation to apply for Industrial Doctorate Grants is aimed at future doctoral students who wish to submit a proposal for an Industrial Doctorate project of their choice.

Advantages of the call
-
Additional compulsory training of 60 hours, 30 hours of courses programmed by the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Industrial Doctorates programme, and 30 hours programmed by the company and/or the university.

Requirements
-
Students must be undertaking a doctoral course during the academic year in question, or must have been admitted to the relevant doctoral course once they have been selected for implementing the Industrial Doctorate project.

Proof of an average grade equal to or higher than 6.5 (on a scale of 1 to 10), from a credit total achieved from a higher education degree which gives access to official doctorate studies.

The doctoral thesis must be implemented within the framework of the collaboration agreement between at least one university and one company, or more if appropriate.

Doctoral student’s availability: exclusive, full-time commitment.
