The self-enrollment process from the second year onwards is common for all degrees at UPF and is described on the enrollment webpage:

General information about the enrollment process for the 2023-2024 academic year

Enrollment dates: July, 2024.

1. Check your appointment: from July, 2024, you can check the day and time when you will be able to enroll within the established period (until the last day of enrollment).

2. Enrollment App: make sure you remember your password. If you don't remember it, click on "Forgot your password?" and you will receive an email from UPF to reset it.

If you have any problem during the enrollment process, you should write a CAU telling us the problem briefly (subject ENROLLMENT) and we will solve it as soon as possible 

Important information to consider:

  • According to the regulations, you must first enroll in the compulsory and basic training subjects that you have not passed (they will appear by default) before enrolling in new ones.
  • If you have any outstanding payments, you will not be able to enroll: print a payment slip from the Virtual Secretary > Fees > Pending payment slips. Once paid, send the receipt by CAU before July 15th.
  • Check the schedules of all the subjects you want to enroll in to avoid schedule conflicts, as the application does not detect them.
  • Payments cannot be split for amounts below 450 euros, and this also applies if you have applied for the AGAUR loan.
  • You can enroll in Elective Cross-Training subjects, including Minors.
  • If you see the message "group full" or "groups not available," it means there are no available spots.
  • If it says "cannot be placed," it is likely that you do not meet the progression requirement (check the regulations).
  • If you leave out any subject, you can expand your enrollment during the different self-modification enrollment periods (September, November and March).
If you  and you only have pending internships and/or mobility to complete your degree in the 2023-2024 academic year, it is essential to enroll in an elective credit (e.g., 1 credit of internships) in order to keep your record active. If you don't do this, you won't be able to make any new enrollments or modifications later on because you won't be considered a student in this academic year.

ICT Degrees

  • If you are a student of the Degree in Computer Engineering, you must have passed a minimum of 35 credits of elective courses marked with an asterisk (*) in the syllabus in order to obtain the degree.
  • The course on Information Retrieval and Web Analysis (RIAW), theory classes taught by Prof. Ricardo Baeza, will be delivered online.
  • Fairness, Accountability Transparency (FATE), for repeaters students, you have to take the following codes: 26006 GEI; 25994 GEXT; 26000 GESA; 25997 GEMCD.
  • Data Science and Computational Models in Biomedicine (code 26227), you should take it as a FTLLE (Free-elective cross-disciplinary training).

Degree in Biomedical Engineering

  • If you want to enroll in the Neuroscience and Humanities course, the code is 22973 (appears with the name "Neuroscience")
  • If you want to enroll in the Neuroscience and Disease course, the code is 22173 (appears with the name "Cognitive Neuroscience")

IMPORTANT: Remember that there is a maximum number of elective credits you can enroll in. If you exceed this maximum, the application will display the following message: "The course XX has not been placed in any study plan track..."

Please check the timetables of the elective courses, as there may be scheduling conflicts (the enrollment app does not filter this). Changing groups later on due to personal scheduling conflicts will incur a modification fee.

1st term

The courses Databases and Communication in Technical English have two groups, both taught in English. You can choose either one, but if you enroll in both subjects, you must enroll in the same group for both.

2nd term

The courses Cryptography and Security and Large-Scale Distributed Systems have two groups, both taught in English. You can choose either one, but if you enroll in both subjects, you must enroll in the same group for both.

For the course Management of IT Companies, there will be one group in English (G1) and one group in Catalan (G2). This choice does not affect any other course.

The rest of the subjects have a single group.

If you intend to do an internship, during the self-enrollment process you can select the subject code corresponding to the number of internship credits you wish to take. There are internship subjects ranging from 1 to 15 credits.

If you have pending internships to be graded in the 2022-2023 academic year, do not enroll them again in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Biomedical Engineering students:

If you enroll in the 4th year in the 2023-2024 academic year and will be completing the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, you must enroll in the mandatory 6-credit internships:

Between the 3rd and 4th year, you can also undertake optional internships (up to 9 elective credits).

  • If you have been granted a mobility placement for the 2023-2024 academic year and you are applying for a scholarship, please note that:

Once you have enrolled in the credits you will take at UPF, if you do not reach the minimum required credits to be eligible for the scholarship (minimum of 30 credits for free enrollment, minimum of 60 credits or the remaining credits if you are in your final year in order to receive the rest of the financial aid):

  1. You must send the Confirmation of the Study Agreement within the first four weeks from the start of your stay.

  2. The Registry Office will enroll you in the credits stated in the Confirmation (you will be notified by email once your academic record is updated).

  3. Once the credits are added to your academic record, and in case you receive a notification from the Ministry stating that you are still short of credits to meet the minimum requirement for the scholarship (starting from December onwards), you must submit an allegation to the UPF Scholarship Unit through the form available on the AGAUR website (you can submit it by email to [email protected]) within one month from the date of the scholarship application resolution.

For any clarification, you can contact the Scholarship Unit (Beques).

  • If you are not a scholarship recipient, you do not need to enroll in mobility credits; we will update your enrollment once you return.

To enjoy your mobility placement, you must enroll in at least one subject at UPF during the 2023-2024 academic year within the established deadline and pay the corresponding academic and administrative fees. In addition to enrolling in the subjects you know you will take at UPF, you are also required to enroll in the mandatory and basic training subjects that you have not passed. If you spend the entire academic year abroad and have no pending mandatory or basic training subjects, you can enroll in an elective subject in the 3rd term.

If you have a failed subject and you go on exchange, you should consult the subject's syllabus to see if it is possible to take it remotely. If it is not possible, you will need to enroll in it in the following academic year with the corresponding surcharge.

If you are a 4th-year student and you are not sure about presenting your Bachelor’s Degree Final Project in the upcoming academic year, you don't need to enroll in it in July.

If you want to think it over, you can enroll in it during the self-modification period in September. If you have any doubts, please check the website of your program.

IMPORTANT: The deadline to enroll in the Bachelor’s Degree Final Project is September 30th, 2023.

Would you like to complement your education with a Minor?

UPF is the only university in the state that offers the possibility of obtaining an additional qualification alongside your degree.

It is a structured training program developed around the acquisition of specific competencies in a different area of knowledge from your main studies. You will have two academic records, one for your degree and one for the Minor. Upon completion of your studies, you will receive a diploma for this specific program.

UPF Minors range from 12 to 30 credits. Each Minor has a specific program of different courses in a thematic area. Check the complete offer of Minors and their specific program.

We recommend that, in order to define your academic curriculum effectively, you consult the course syllabus and schedules before enrolling in any course.

How can you enroll in a Minor? Fill out this form before the start of the July enrollment period (there is no cost). You can enroll in more than one Minor.

Only in cases where you do not meet the requirements to advance to the next year, which you can check below, you must request progression through the Virtual Student Secretary (within the Self-request for procedures).

Regulations for academic progression and continuation in undergraduate studies. 
Extraordinary period to request progression: September 2023. 

Continuation of undergraduate studies:

  • You must pass at least 50% of the credits of basic and mandatory subjects from the 1st year.
  • Credits to be passed: 30.

Progression in studies:

Access to the 2nd year:

  • You must pass at least 50% of the credits of basic and mandatory subjects from the 1st year.
  • Credits to be passed: 30.

Access to the 3rd year:

  • You must pass at least 90% of the 1st-year credits and 50% of the credits of subjects from the 2nd year.
  • Credits to be passed: 54 from the 1st year, 30 from the 2nd year.

Access to the 4th year:

  • You must pass all the 1st-year credits, at least 90% of the credits from the 2nd year, and 50% of the credits from the 3rd year.
  • Credits to be passed: 60 from the 1st year, 54 from the 2nd year, and 30 from the 3rd year.

*If you meet these requirements, you do not need to request progression.

If you do not receive a response to your request before enrollment, you will have to enroll in the courses available in the program and then, once authorized, request us to update your enrollment through the CAU system.

Elective subjects have a limited number of spots available. If you can't find the subject you want during the enrollment period, for example, you can choose another one and try to make the change during the self-modification period.

IMPORTANT: If you access the application and make no changes to your enrollment, DO NOT click on confirm, as you will be charged a modification fee.
  • If you have any doubts about the process, refer to the self-modification manual.
  • Once the process has started, the updating of spots will be instantaneous, meaning that if a student changes one subject for another, it will free up a spot.
  • You can change already enrolled subjects and enroll in new ones, but under no circumstances can you reduce the total number of credits enrolled.
  • In the second and third periods, subjects for the current term cannot be modified.
  • If you have been granted an AGAUR loan, you will not be able to make self-modifications. Since the loan does not cover enrollment modifications, the payment for these modifications must be made in a single installment via direct debit. Contact the teaching department via CAU.
  • Any enrollment modification (including group changes) that is not attributable to the School and is made outside the deadline will incur a new administrative fee.
