Catalan language and culture courses

Description

The Catalan Culture and Language Survival Kit one-week face-to-face course (10 hours) is meant to offer a cultural and linguistic welcoming experience that prepares non-Catalan-speaking students and staff to start their studies or work at UPF in optimum conditions.

 

Course details 2026-2027

  • Duration and modality: 10 hours, face-to-face
  • 1st term
    • Calendar: from 14 to 18 September.
    • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 3 to 5.30 pm.
    • Enrolment: 2 July until spots are filled.
  • 2nd term
    • Calendar: from 19 to 28 January.
    • Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 2.30 to 5 pm.
    • Enrolment: 17 November until spots filled.
  • 3rd term
    • Calendar: from 3 to 7 May.
    • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 5 to 7 pm.
    • Enrolment: 12 February until spots filled.

  • Students per group: minimum 10; maximum 25
  • UPF certificate: if you pass the course, approximately three weeks after the end of the course you will receive a UPF certificate by email.
  • Language used during the sessions: mainly Catalan.

Course structure

CATALAN LANGUAGE SURVIVAL KIT

Short format workshop that provides newcomers with their first contact with the Catalan language. In this course students learn the necessary skills to acquire a high level of oral and written comprehension and to start communicating in the Catalan language in the most common situations of everyday life: on the street, at university, in stores, etc.

CATALAN CULTURE SURVIVAL KIT

Short format workshop that provides exchange students with the basic concepts necessary to understand the Catalan nation historically, linguistically and culturally.

You must take the two workshops that make up this pack: Catalan Language Survival Kit and Catalan Culture survival kit.

 

Fee: 15 €

  • CATStudies Diploma discount: Free course for those UPF students that only have to complete one more course to reach the 7 ECTS needed to request the CATStudies Diploma.
