EuroVeus - Episode 2: "Political Families in the European Parliament: aliances, fragmentation, and the far right"

Following the 2024 European elections, the European Parliament is facing a more fragmented political landscape, marked by the rise of Eurosceptic and far-right forces and the weakening of the traditional major political groups. But what does this mean for the functioning of the European Union? How are majorities built within the Parliament? And to what extent could this new configuration affect European governance?
In this second episode of EuroVeus, we discuss the political families represented in the European Parliament and the dynamics shaping European politics today.
We are joined by Professor Joan Miró, a specialist in European integration, Economic and Monetary Union governance, and international political economy. The episode also features Blanca León and Pol Sanmartí, Political Science students at UPF, who raise key questions to better understand the internal dynamics of the European Parliament in the current political context.
