Rosemarie Nagel elected as Econometric Society Fellow
One member of the UPF community has been elected Fellows of the Econometric Society. The Society announced the results of its 2022 elections on September 15, 2022, with UPF School of Economics and Business professor Rosemarie Nagel amongst the newest Fellows.
Founded in 1930, the Econometric Society is an international society of academic economists and one of the most prestigious societies in economics. The Society conducts annual elections to vote for new Fellows, an honourary designation highly valued by members of the economics profession. Besides this, the Society publishes three journals – Econometrica, Quantitative Economics, and Theoretical Economics – and organises scientific meetings worldwide.
Rosemarie Nagel is an ICREA Research Professor of Economics at UPF, Research Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE), and one of the directors of the Behavioral Experimental Science Laboratory (BESLab) at UPF. She studies bounded rational behavior of coordination with game theory, psychology, laboratory, field experiments, and neuroscientific tools. She originated a limited-iterated reasoning model (level-k) in Keynesian Beauty Contest game experiments that has affected modeling and experimentation in economics, finance, econometrics, management, psychology, neuroeconomics, and computer science.
Her research has been published in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Nature: Human Behavior, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). In addition, Nagel co-organises annual macro-experimental and computational-experimental economics workshops and summer schools. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Bonn in 1994.
