TRANSGANG participates in the Migration Forum in Quito

Carles Feixa presentes the Transgang project in the III Meeting on Migration and Development in Quito.

On June 14, the IP of the TRANSGANG project, Carles Feixa, participated in the III Meeting on Migration and Development (Pre World Social Forum of Migrations), which took place at the University of Ecuador in Quito. It was organized by the Rumiñahui Association, which groups the Ecuadorian migrants in Spain. The association has been working with young people linked to youth gangs from a perspective of violence prevention, conflict resolution and social integration. Thanks to members of the Latin Kings and the Ñetas of Madrid, a round table on "Urban Cultures and the Impact of Migration" was organized with representatives of different collectives. The Corporation of Latin Kings and Queens of Ecuador and the ALKQN Association of Ecuador participated. Carles Feixa explained the Barcelona process and the evolution of Latin gangs in Spain. Ana (adviser of the Corporation), King Majesty (Corporation) and King Tonny (Association) also participated in the event. A hundred members of these groups attended. The debate generated great interest. The group discussed about the effects of the legalization of these groups by the government of Ecuador. It was one of the key points of the event.
