Joint supervision of doctoral thesis 

Apply to be jointly supervised by more than one supervisor.

Documents required:

  • A free-format report providing the reasons for a joint supervision, signed by all thesis supervisors
  • Non-UPF supervisors: identity document (DNI, NIE) and abridged (CV)
  • Joint supervision form
  • A renewal of your document of commitment

In this case, a renewal of your document of commitment is needed. The original document must be submitted signed by the PhD student, supervisor/s, tutor (if the tutor and the supervisor are the same person, he/she can sign twice).

Temporary break application

  • Break for a maximum period of one year, which may be extended for a further year. This application must be justified.
  • Break caused by a special situation, the deadline for submiting the doctoral thesis will be extended for the time that this situation lasts. Special situations:
    • Temporary disability
    • Risk during pregnancy
    • Maternity or paternity
    • Adoption or fostering
    • Risk during breastfeeding

Time extension to submit the doctoral thesis 

1st Time extension Documents required:

  • A report of your/s thesis supervisor/s explaining the reasons (signed by the supervisor)
  • 1st time extension application form
2nd Time extension Documents required (under  exceptional  circumstances):
  • A report of my thesis supervisor/s giving explicit support to the application, explaining the reasons for this second year extension and including a specific work plan with an estimated deposit date by which the student will deposit the thesis during the following academic year.
