These courses focus on grammar, vocabulary and the strategies needed to pass the B2 First (formerly, FCE) or the C1 Advanced (formerly CAE) Cambridge exams. You will have the chance to practise and receive feedback from all the exam sections, and you will be able to improve your English.

The preparation courses combine live teaching via videoconference with autonomous work that students complete following a learning itinerary. The courses have a fixed schedule with the teachers, but there is great flexibility, which allows UPF students to combine the Enligsh courses with their academic schedules. Moreover, those who have a job of other obligatoins can also learn English with the teachers’s close supervision. Class planning materials and explicative videos are uploaded promptly on Aula Global, so that students can easily follow the course.

The course follows a communicative approach, both in the objectives and the methodology. This means that, besides rigorous grammatical training, students will learn the necessary resources to communicate accurately and properly in english in different areas. thank to small online classrooms, students will practice speaking and writing.

Course details

  • Participants: these courses are open to everyone.
  • Duration: 40 hours (combined with 30 hours of autonomous work to reach a total of 75 hours) (more information).
  • Modality: en directe via videoconferència.
  • Students per group: minimum 15 - maximum 20.
  • Calendar: October-February and February-June.
  • Start of the course:
    • October-February courses: 26 October 2026.
    • February-June courses: from 1 March 2027.
  • Last day of enrolment:
    • October-February courses: 30 October 2026.
    • February-June courses: 1 March 2027.
  • Credits for UPF students: once you pass the course, 3 crèdits RAC and 3 credits for the Minor en Plurilingüisme.
  • UPF certificate: if you pass the course, approximately two weeks after the end of the course you will receive a UPF course certificate by email.
  • Recommended level: You can enrol directly in your desired level. However, we recommend that you certify your current level (with an official certificate you can send to [email protected] or by taking a free online placement test) before the course starts. This will help ensure that you are placed in the group that best matches your actual level.

Fee

Standard fee: €365

Discount for early registration: €346,75

  • October-February courses: until 28 September 2026.
  • February-June courses: until 25 January 2027.

5% additional discount: discount available for large families, single parents or students with a minimum degree of disability of 33% (amount refundable once tuition is paid and the discount is justified with the supporting document. Applications must be sent to [email protected].

  • October-February courses: until 20 November 2026.
  • February-June courses: until 8 March 2027.

Conditions

  • The price of the course includes the teaching, the material and resources available in the Global Classroom of the course, and the UPF certificate of the course.
  • The price does not include the course book.
  • Idiomes UPF reserves the right to cancel any course that does not reach the minimum number of students required (15). In this case, the full amount of the course will be refunded.

 

PARLA3 Grants: €350 for undergraduate students / €600 for undergraduate students with a general grant

If you are an undergraduate student, you can take a course (all levels) and obtain a refund of up to € 350 for each course passed (more information)

If you are an grant-holder undergraduate student at a Catalan university, you do not have to pay the price for the course thanks to the PARLA3 grant for grant holders (more information)
