2026-2027 Catalan C1 courses
- Duration: 30 hours (with 45 h of autonomous work online, reaching a total of 75 hours of teaching-learning)
- Format: most of the editions are online live courses, but some of them are also offered face-to-face at UPF. In all cases, attending the sessions is highly recommended but not mandatory.
- Location: Ciutadella Campus (on-site editions).
- UPF Certificate: If you have completed the course (with a minimum of 80% attendance), you will receive a UPF Certificate by email.
- Who can enrol: Everyone over the age of 18.
Course objectives
- To acquire the necessary skills to successfully complete the Catalan C1 CIFALC exam.
- To work on different strategies to obtain good results in all the different parts of the exam.
- To improve your written and oral expression through structured practice of official C1 exam and activities.
- To review the most difficult aspects of Catalan Grammar.
2026-2027 editions and schedules
If you are studying at UPF (exchange students and undergraduate, master's, and PhD students who are not Catalan speakers) and you are making an effort to learn Catalan, you can apply for the UPF Diploma in Catalan Language and Cultural Studies (CATStudies). [more information]
For this language course, you will earn 3 ECTS credits, up to the 7 ECTS required to obtain the UPF Diploma CATStudies.
New CATStudies discount: you can enroll for free in the last course you need to reach the 7 ECTS required for the CATStudies Diploma (whether it is a quarterly Catalan language course, a culture course, or a Catalan conversation course).
Online course’s features:
- Interactive sessions held via videoconference.
- Real-time online group work to practise both speaking and writing skills.
- Consolidation and extension material for autonomous study.
- Recordings of the key theoretical parts of the virtual sessions, allowing students to review them afterwards.
Entry requirements:
You can enrol on the course directly. In order to confirm your enrollment, you will need to prove that you have consolidated the previous level (C1.1 CEFR). You can prove your level by:

- taking a free online level test
Price
Standard fee: €270
Subsidized fee for UPF Community members: €60
UPF undergraduate students: the course is free of charge in order to facilitate the obtainment of the C1 level in Catalan language.
UPF teaching and research staff: this course will be free in order for them to certify their C1 level in Catalan language.
CATStudies Diploma discount: Free course for those UPF students that only have to complete one more course to reach the 7 ECTS needed to request the Diploma CATStudies.
Conditions
- The fee includes the teaching, additional material and the UPF course certificate.
- The price does not include the fee for the official examination CIFALC.
- If you decide to leave the course, you will have to send us an email to ask for a refund before the course starts. Otherwise, the fee for the course won’t be refunded. The fee for the subsidized course will not be refunded under any circumstances. If a course must be cancelled because the minimum number of participants required (10) is not reached, the full fee for the course will be refunded in all cases.
