The exchange students who will be studying at UPF as part of different programmes (Erasmus, bilateral agreements, SICUE, visiting students and Science without Borders), began the reception week on Wednesday September 17, with an institutional welcome by José Ferrer, vice-rector for International Relations.
This was followed by the presentation of the services available at the University: Languages UPF, the University Community Assistance Service (SACU), the Language Volunteering programme, the Library and the Computer Service, as well as a guided tour of the Ciutadella Campus with UPF students and a talk on personal safety from the Mossos d'Esquadra Catalan police force (11.45 am).
On 18 September, Antoni Luna, a lecturer in the Department of Humanities, gave a lecture on "Barcelona, - a little history", in which he presented the history of the Catalan capital, from its origins to the present day.
The student associations with the greatest involvement with international students then presented their activities. The briefings on the various studies, which took place on the respective UPF campuses where they are taught on 19, 22 and 23 September, rounded off the activities of the reception week.
Welcome to students on the Education Abroad Programme
Students have come to Barcelona to study this term as part of UPF's Education Abroad Programme had their own programme of reception and orientation activities, which began on 15 September and continued until the 23rd of the month.
The structure of the activities prepared for them was the same as those for exchange students, with an institutional welcome, a presentation of the Hispanic and European Studies Programme (HESP) by the directors, an explanation of the University's services and briefings on the various studies.
A new feature this year was a talk that took place on 15 September by UPF students, who explained the academic workings and everyday life at the University, and during which new students were able to ask questions to clear up any doubts.
