Oliva Card Logim Solutions is the first company to result from UPF's Network Technologies and Strategies research group (NeTS). Last March it reached an agreement with the Sant Cugat trade association (Sant Cugat Comerç) to promote small businesses in the town by means of a loyalty card, the Oliva Card.

The project, which has received funding from the European Commission, works with a points system that consumers get each time they shop at any of the participating shops. The accumulated points can be exchanged for gifts and discounts.

The Oliva Card, which unifies the previous loyalty strategies of each of these businesses, can also be used via a mobile application. Since it came into operation on 25 April, "Sant Cugat in your pocket" (as the card has been dubbed in the town) already has more than 4,200 users and has exchanged more than 1,500 gifts. The creators of the Oliva Card intend to implement the system in other towns in the Barcelona metropolitan area and also in other European cities.

An initiative that emerged from the Department of Information and Communication Technologies

Logim Solutions, created in 2013, is the first technology-based company to have emerged from the NeTS research group, of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC). The headquarters of the company, which uses the technologies and knowledge developed from the research activity carried out at the University, are located in the incubation spaces of the Innovation Unit - UPF Business Shuttle, on the 2 nd floor of the Almogavars Business Factory building.

This business initiative is led by Michael Lin and José Luis Sánchez, founders of Logim Solutions and collaborators of the NeTs. Other team members include Miquel Oliver and Johan Zuidweg, DTIC lecturers.
