UPF remains among the top 40 research centers in economics of the world
The University of Tilburg (Netherlands) has drawn up a new edition of the Top 100 leading universities for research into Economics, a ranking calculated from a list that includes the papers published in the 35 most important journals of reference (a subset of a database of 70 journals) in the fields of Econometrics, Economics, Statistics and Finance between 2008 and 2012.
It therefore includes the scientific production of the lecturers of the Department of Economics and Business for the period under consideration.
This world-wide classification for 2008-2012 puts UPF in 37rd place (down one position from the previous year) consolidating its position among the world's top 100 universities, the first university in the State and the fifteenth in Europe.
The second highest scoring State-wide university, in comparison with the 2007-2011 edition, continues to be the Carlos III University of Madrid, which comes in 40th place, followed by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (89).
When looking at the top ten places in the world classification, it becomes evident that the ranking is clearly dominated by the north American universities, concretely those of Harvard, Chicago, Stanford, MIT, California-Berkeley, Columbia, Northwestern, New York, Yale and Pennsylvania, in that order.
With regard to Europe, the first institution to score in the Top 100 is the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) in eleventh place, followed by Oxford University (UK) in 13rd, the University of Tilburg, in 19th, and the University College of London, in 20th.
The Internet application, allows consulting scientific production by country, for each of the centres and for each of the publications considered in the ranking.
