The Degree Final Project (DFP) is carried out during the 4th year of your studies, in an autonomous way and guided by a director. It has an academic charge of 15 ECTS, without face-to-face classes. It may be a project related to research that is done in a UPF department, it may be proposed by a teacher an individual level, it may be linked to an internship that you have carried out in an enterprise, or it may be proposed directly by you. In any case, it must be run by a teacher of the Engineering School and it must be useful as an initiation to the project execution in your working field as future engineers.

You must write a report on the project and defend it before an examining board. This presentation and defense will be carried out at the end of the academic year, in July, and in a single call. If it cannot be finished on time, you have to re-enroll in the following year.

Work can be done collaboratively, but the report and the presentation must be individual.

  • TFG Proposals: it is recommended to check them during the 3rd academic year.
  • Enrolment: during the enrolment period (July).
  • Registration: at the beginning of October, you have to register the TFG through the Aula Global.
  • Qualification: check the title and the qualification in your academic record before to apply for the degree.

The students interested in a DFP can address the teacher in order to show their interest. Those who have their own proposal or the intention of carrying out the DFP in an enterprise need to get in touch with the coordinator of each Degree (see below) in order to look for a director (in the case of the enterprise, co-director) suitable for the project's topic. In these last two cases, if you are sure about the school teacher of reference in that topic, you can get in touch with them directly.

In the Digital Repository you can look up the best DFP of each academic year.

The authorizations to publish the DFP in the Digital Repository will be signed electronically through the UPF Electronic Administration Platform (PAE) with the IdCAT mobile. Complete the process.

The DFP’s enrolment works the same way as the rest of the subjects, which means it needs to be enroled during the self-enrolment period (July) either during the 1st self-enrolment modification period (September), which implies the anual fee (27,27 €).

If the DFP is the last subject you have left to finish the Bachelor's degree, the last day to enrol the DFP will be September 30, 2023. In this case, you should send us an email to [email protected].

Is it possible to do the TFG in the 5th academic year?
Yes, the TFG is a 4th year assignment, but it can be done in a 5th year.

Can I change the director?
After the deadline to notify the director (third Friday of October) changes are only possible if authorized by the subject's coordination. To request authorization you must write to the TFG's coordinator.

Can I resign from the evaluation of the TFG?
Yes, the TFG is treated in the same way as any other subject in the curriculum.

Can I recognize the TFG during the mobility?
No, the TFG cannot be recognized in any of its modalities.

Can I do the TFG during the mobility?
Yes, you can start the TFG at UPF (for example, if you are here in the 1st term) and continue it remotely with your director at UPF. Or, start it 100% remotely if the director agrees. If you find a teacher who will take you to university, you can do it with that person as well, but always under the supervision of an UPF director.

You will have to present the report in June and defend it at the UPF in July.

Finally, it is not possible to do a stay to do exclusively the TFG since this is not recognized and, therefore, does not count among the minimum 15 credits per quarter/semester to be passed to obtain the mobility grant.

How many calls do I have to present the TFG in an academic year?
There is only one call and it is in July.

The report may have a maximum of 30 pages, not including possible annexes. Attachments may include supporting material (such as code, demonstrations, examples), but the work must be intelligible without them.

At the beginning of October you have to register the DFP through the Aula Global, showing the provisional title and the name of your director.The approximate deadlines are as follows:

  • May: Final title and summary (250 words)
  • June: Final Report

In the Aula Global you will find the following information as: the report extension and format, presentation schedules, resources, e-repository, among others.

Will the title of my TFG be reflected in my transcript/study certificate? Yes, once you have finished your TFG, the title will be entered in your transcript, and you will be able to see it together with the code and the name of the subject.
