Lumbar back pain affects 85% of the population and is the leading cause of work incapacity and morbidity. Despite being one of the most widespread health problems, there is no consensus on the main factors that cause this condition, which results in poor prognosis and, ultimately, few treatment options.

For this reason in November 2020 DISC4ALL was born, a European project that promotes the interdisciplinary training of more than 15 PhD students from different European universities in favour of scientific research applied to intervertebral disc degeneration.

Although the project was initiated 15 months ago, due to the COVID pandemic, it was not until this week that the first face-to-face meeting was held, with the participation of different researchers from our department, such as Aneta Toncheva - Project Manager -, Miguel Ángel González Ballester - ESR Supervisor - and Estefano Muñoz Moya - ESR 14, as well as the project coordinator, Jérôme Noailly. In addition, Sofia Tseranidou - ESR 13 and Gemma Piella - ESR Supervisor - also participated telematically.

In addition, during the first 3 days, there was also a meeting with the Research Executive Agency where the Project Officer Mr. Thomas Vyzikas, gave a presentation on Marie Curie Actions and Horizon Europe Programme and the rights and responsibilities of Early Stage Researchers (ESR).
