Discover how technology research is applied to sound and music in the Live Research Fair 2017

Would you like to know what it feels like to be an orchestra director for a day? This is one of many experiences that you can live from 3 to 6 May at Cosmocaixa, in Barcelona.

25.04.2017

The Scientific Park of Barcelona (UB) and La Caixa Foundation are organizing  the 15th Live Research Fair with the aim of bringing research to high school students in particular; however, the general public can also take part in its activities.

During these days, various research projects in different fields such as biology, archeology, psychiatry or music technology will be presented. To the music technology field belongs the Phenicx project, lead by the Music Technology Group (MTG), from the Department of Information and Communication Technologies in the University Pompeu Fabra.

The researchers Alvaro Sarasua and Sonia Rodriguez will be presenting this project to young students to show them the potential of artificial intelligence and interactive technologies, and how they allow to enrich the experience of live classical music. Furthermore, participants will be able to take part in "Becoming the Maestro", an interactive game where one can play the role of orchestra director during a concert, allowing users to better understand the concepts of symphonic music.
