Instruction of the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences for the regulations of the Bachelor's Degree Final Project organization procedure

Article 1. Purpose and scope of application

The purpose of these instructions is to regulate the Bachelor's Degree Final Project on studies in the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences.

These instructions supplement the Regulations governing the Bachelor's Degree Final Project for official university degree courses approved by the decision of the Board of Governors of 2 March 2011, as amended by the agreement of the Board of Governors of 13 July 2011 and by the agreement of the Board of Governors of 13 July 2022.

Article 2. Type

2.1. The Bachelor's Degree Final Project entails the production of a project, a study, a report or a work in which the knowledge, skills, competencies and skills acquired in the degree course in question are applied, integrated and developed.

The aim of the Bachelor's Degree Final Project is to enable assessment of the competences associated with the qualification, and concludes with its presentation and approval.

2.2 The project will be carried out, typically, in teams, following the guidelines established in the program of the course "Treball de Fi de Grau" or Final Year Project. It is also possible to present an individual project, as long as it counts with an external tutor to the course.

2.3. It can be undertaken as part of the subject offered ad hoc by the Faculty based on the following schedule:

2.3.1. Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Administration, Economics and Business Sciences-Management:

2.3.2. Bachelor's degree in International Business Economics:

Final Year Project (code 21279)

2.3.3. Double bachelor's degree programme in Law and Business Administration or Law and Economics:

Bachelor's degree Final Project in BMA or Economics (code 24823):

Groups 1* and 2 (1st term)

Groups 3 and 4 (2nd term)

Groups 5* and 6 (3rd term)

2.3.4. This regulation does not apply to the Bachelor's Degree Final Project in Law, which must be taken separately.

2.4 The syllabus of the Final Year Project or "Treball de Fi de Grau" will list the necessary requirements for the course, including information and data knowledge which, eventually, may be verified by the appropriate means.

Article 3. Assignment

3.1. The teaching staff assigned to the subject will be announced with the publication of the courses offered. By default, this teaching staff will supervise the Projects.

3.2 Students enrolled in this course may apply for being co-directed by an external tutor to the subject. The external tutors must confirm their willingness to direct the project using a form available in the Faculty's Intranet or in the Aula Global of the course, where instructions about the external tutors' tasks can be found.

3.3. Any supervision of projects that is not carried out by teaching staff assigned to teach the Bachelor's Degree Final Project subject must be approved jointly by those appointed by the Faculty Dean's Office.

3.4. The deadlines for submission and evaluation of the projects supervised by teaching staff not specifically assigned to teach the Bachelor's Degree Final Project will be the same as those for the subject group in which the student concerned has registered.

3.5. Bachelor's Degree Final Projects can be carried out during exchange stages or work placements linked to a project, provided that the applicant is in the final year of their studies.

Article 4. Supervision of the work

4.1.There are several types of tutoring for the Final Year Project:

4.1.1.All projects under the general theme (as specified in the Syllabus of the Final Year Project course) will be directed by the professor in charge of the course.

4.1.2. Those with the appropriate authorization may have ad hoc supervision, in accordance with the procedure stipulated in points 3.2 to 3.5 of these instructions.

4.1.3. Those wishing to link the completion of their Bachelor's Degree Final Project with a project for a company may have their Project co-supervised by a responsible individual within the company, in accordance with points 3.2 to 3.5 of these instructions, subject to authorization by the member of teaching staff responsible for supervision.

4.2. The obligations of supervisors of a Bachelor's Degree Final Project are as follows:

a)to inform the student about the characteristics and objectives of the study,

b)to ensure the viability of the project with the number of working hours for the ECTS credits assigned to the project work in the curriculum,

c)to guide the student when undertaking a project and to monitor it, and finally,

d)to authorize the presentation of the work.

Article 5. Assessment

5.1. The Bachelor's Degree Final Project subject lasts for one term and will be assessed within the period established by the university in the term concerned.

5.2. The Bachelor's Degree Final Project will be assessed on a virtual basis and within the evaluation period stipulated by the university.

5.3. The teaching staff of the subject will establish the assessment mechanisms in each sitting within the Subject Course Plan.

Article 6. Presentation of the work

6.1. The student must provide the teaching staff member responsible for the subject with a copy of the work that must include the objectives, method, content and conclusions of the study.

6.2. The defence of the Final Year Project consists of a public presentation in front of a committee of two members. The presentation has to follow the rules and guidelines established in the Teaching Plan. After the defence, the committee may ask questions that have to be answered.

6.3. The work may be written and presented in Catalan, Spanish or English, except for students registered in groups in English in the Business Management and Administration, Economics, Business Sciences-Management and International Business Management bachelor's degree courses, which must be in English.

Article 7. Grades

7.1. The member of teaching staff responsible for assessment must write an assessment transcript, containing the names of the assessors and students, grade, and in the event of a fail, a description of the reasons for the grade awarded.

7.2. The assessment transcript must be sent to the authors of the work concerned and to the teaching staff responsible for supervision.
