Paula Bustos joins the faculty as ICREA researcher professor

The UPF Economics and Business Department proudly welcomes Paula Bustos as its newest addition to the faculty. Prof. Bustos joins the department as a distinguished ICREA researcher professor, further enriching the university community with her expertise and innovative research agenda.

With a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and a Master's degree from Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Prof. Bustos has consistently demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and inquiry. Her research interests span across various domains, including international trade, development economics, and industrial organisation. She is a Research Fellow at the European Economic Association (EEA), Research Fellow at Centre for Economoic Policy Research (CEPR), and Researcher at the Institute of Political Economy and Governance (IPEG).

Prior to joining UPF, Prof. Bustos held positions at institutions such as CEMFI, where she served as an Associate Professor with tenure; Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI), where she was a Researcher; and Princeton University, where she was awarded the Kenen Fellowship. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Young Economist Award from the European Economic Association and multiple research grants from organizations like the European Research Council and the Ministry of Science and Innovation in Spain.

Prof. Bustos' research is marked by its innovation and relevance to pressing issues such as globalisation, climate change, and labour. Her work on trade liberalisation, firm performance, and economic development has been published in top journals and has received widespread recognition within the academic community. Moreover, her commitment to mentorship is evident through her supervision of master's and doctoral students, many of whom have gone on to pursue successful careers in academia and research. In addition to her acadmic achievements, Prof. Bustos has actively contributed to the Economics field through her editorial roles, conference presentations, and seminar series organisation.
