The Universitat Pompeu Fabra Department of Economics and Finance is happy to announce Prof. Andreu Mas-Colell's new book "General Equilibrium and Game Theory - Ten Papers", published by Harvard University Press.

A reception was held on Friday, 8 April, at the UPF Ciutadella Campus Auditorium with Prof. Mas-Colell, Prof. Jerry R. Green of Harvard University, and Prof. Hugo F. Sonnenschein of the University of Chicago presenting the book. Chairman of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (GSE) Prof. Ramon Marimon hosted the presentation, and University of California Prof. Joaquim Silvestre and UPF rector Prof. Jaume Casals also delivered speeches.

The new book examines general equilibrium and game theory through a series of papers representing Mas-Colell's most important scholarly contributions, and addresses central questions of finance, industrial organisation, trade, and welfare economics. The book's introduction was written by Prof. Sonnenschein, and additional appendix material was written by UPF Economics Profs. Antoni Bosch-Domènech and Xavier Calsamiglia as well as Prof. Silvestre.

This is Mas-Colell's tenth book publication. Mas-Colell's 1995 textbook "Microeconomic Theory" is one of the most used graduate microeconomics textbooks in the world. Besides his role as Professor of Economics, Mas-Colell is also founder of the Barcelona GSE, and has served several times in the Catalonian governmental cabinet, most recently as Minister for Economy and Knowledge.
