Teresa Garcia-Milà, Professor of Economics and Chief of the Department of Economics and Business of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, joins as adviser to the Advisory Council for Economic Recovery and Growth (CAREC) of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The CAREC was established in January 2011 and began its tasks in February of the same year. Its duties include:

- Advice or report on issues that are raised by the President or by the holders of the Government departments competent on policies to boost economic recovery process in Catalonia.

- Propose actions or approaches that consider appropriate in terms of economic evolution, trying to anticipate their effects on both public and private sectors.

- Support, at the request of the President of the Generalitat, negotiation processes which involve the participation of the Government or Parliament with State institutions or international organizations.
