The SIR 2010 World Report ranks more than 2000 of the best worldwide research institutions based on quantitative data related to citations and publications for the period 2004-2008. According to the "Normalized Impact" indicator, the UPF ranks first of all Spanish universities overall as well as in the subcategory "Social Sciences and Humanities". It also stands out especially in the areas Economics and Medicine.
