UPF Education Abroad Programs have been specially designed to fit the needs of the increasing number of international students that want to spend a semester or a full academic year at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

The UPF Education Abroad Program has been recognized for meeting the Standards of Good Practice of the Forum on Education Abroad (recognition earned in 2016).

A wide range of quality learning opportunities

Students registered under these programs will be able to combine a wide variety of classes from different fields and disciplines and other academic opportunities, such as independent research projects, academic internships, language courses, etc.

The Hispanic and European Studies Program (HESP) is the core program of all of our  Study Abroad opportunities and comprises a wide assortment of topics and perspectives. Special emphasis has been placed on subjects that promote a better understanding of the Spanish and Catalan reality while encouraging critical thinking.

Topic-based Education Abroad Programs are also available for students interested in a concentration such as International Business, Life Sciences (Basic Biomedic Sciences Program), Science and Technology (ICT Program) and International Relations (International Relations Program), among others.

The UPF Study Abroad Program is aimed to offer an international environment that emphasizes the intercultural experience through an immersion program fully integrated in the academic structure of the UPF.

The integrated academic offering allows international students to take regular UPF courses from all UPF Schools as well as regular courses at UPF affiliated International Business School (ESCI), International Relations Program (IBEI) as well as at HESP. Students are invited to a wide variety of opportunities to interact with local students, engage in volunteering activities, and develop a true intercultural experience.

All academic initiatives, courses and syllabi are supervised, approved and monitored by an Academic Board formed by all UPF Deans, the Academic Director of the HESP and the Vice rector of International Relations.
