Our International Programs are designed with the expectation that participating students are undergraduate students who have completed approximately half of their bachelor's degree. The modules offered are primarily upper-level (300- or 400-level), intended for students with sufficient academic preparation to engage with advanced material. While this reflects the general academic level for which the programs are intended, the following specific eligibility criteria apply:

Entry Requirements at the Moment of Application

  • Academic Performance: You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, a 7 out of 10 on the UPF grading scale, or the equivalent of a B+ or higher.
  • Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate proficiency in the language of instruction (Spanish or English), both written and spoken. A language certificate is not required, but a minimum B2 level is expected. Insufficient language skills may negatively affect your academic performance or lead to course failure.
  • Fall/Full Year Applicants: You must be enrolled at an accredited university or higher education institution and be in at least your second year of study (sophomore year or higher) when you apply.
  • Winter Term Applicants:  You must be enrolled at an accredited university or higher education institution and be in at least your third year of study (junior year or higher) when you apply.

Note for Transfer Students: Exceptionally, transfer students will be eligible regardless of their year of study if they have completed 60 US credits. These credits must be officially recognized by their current university at the time of application.

Application Process

Students officially nominated from one of our partner universities need to complete the following sections within the online application and upload the relevant documents.

For those applying through a third-party provider, this process will be managed on their behalf, requiring no additional steps from the applicant.

Students without an institutional agreement can apply to UPF International Programs as independent students (free movers). They must provide pre-approval of credit transfer during the application, and await further instructions upon application review. Independent students (free movers) have access to the following UPF terms: Fall (1st UPF term) and Winter (2nd UPF term). Access to the Spring term is not available for independent students.
