The Final Year Project (FYP) is a compulsory course. Please refer to the Course Guide for detailed information.

Can I take the "Treball Fi de Grau" (TFG) – Final Year Project (FYP) in my first, second or third year?

No. The FYP can only be taken in the fourth year. Students must comply with the degree progression requirements (Articles 2.1, 3.1.1 and 4.5.2).

In which term can I take the TFG?

You may enrol in the TFG in any term (Term 1, Term 2 or Term 3), provided that places are available.

Can I complete the TFG in a different term from the one in which I am enrolled?

No. You may only complete the TFG during the term in which you are enrolled.

Can I work on the TFG with students from other degree programmes in the School?

Yes, provided that all members of the TFG group are enrolled in the same term.

In which language can I write my TFG?

You may write your TFG in Catalan, Spanish or English. However, for students enrolled in the International Business Economics (IBE) programme, the TFG must be written in English.

Can I complete the TFG while I am on an exchange programme?

Yes, provided that you are enrolled in the TFG at UPF during the corresponding term.

What are the different TFG formats?

  • General format

The TFG is completed in groups of four students, and the TFG Coordinator assigns a supervisor to each group.

  • Specific format

The TFG may be completed individually or in groups of up to four students.

In this format, no supervisor is assigned. Instead, students must propose a supervisor from either the academic or professional field when selecting their topic (at the beginning of the term). The TFG Coordinator will evaluate the proposal and decide whether to approve it.

The person supervising your TFG must complete the required documentation, which is available in the course's Aula Global.

What documents must be completed to carry out the TFG?

What is the timetable for submitting the TFG and receiving grades?

The specific deadlines are available in the course's Aula Global once you have enrolled.

Is it compulsory to defend the TFG?

Yes. In all cases, students must upload a video presentation of their TFG to Aula Global, following the instructions provided there. In addition, the assessment panel may require an in-person oral defence if deemed necessary.

Can I withdraw from the assessment of the TFG?

Yes. The TFG follows the same assessment regulations as any other course in the degree programme.

Will the title of my TFG appear on my academic transcript or certificate?

At the end of the term, the School’s Secretaria will send you an email containing a form in which you must enter the final title of your TFG. This final title, rather than the provisional one provided at the beginning of the term, will be recorded on your academic transcript.

Can I obtain recognition for the TFG?

No. According to the regulations (Article 8.1.3), the TFG cannot be recognised for credit.
