Online news and digital journalism have been my primary research lines since 1994, approached from both theoretical and methodological perspectives. My work in this field spans from pioneering early studies to cutting-edge research on emerging media technologies.

  • Current Research & AI: I am currently exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on the digital media ecosystem. My latest projects examine the social dimensions of generative AI, AI-aided news production, originality, copyright law, and modern revenue models.
  • Foundational Work: My journey began in 1994 with the landmark text "El nuevo periódico electrónico". Over the years, my research has evolved to analyze media convergence, technological innovation, audience participation, and hypertextual structures.

Below, you can access selected publications, including early digital communication books and chapters on international quality media, alongside several previously unpublished texts.

T he most recent ones are Financing the media: In search of reader (and Google) revenue models, and its impact in news consumption (with Laura Pérez-Altable), Convergence and Innovation: The Conceptual and Methodological Basis of Technological Evolution and Cultural Complexity in Journalism (with Ainara Larrondo and Ivar John Erdal).

I am currently doing some research on the impact of artificial intelligence in the digital media system:  Without journalists, there is no journalism: the social dimension of generative artificial intelligence in the mediaArtificial intelligence systems-aided news and copyright: assessing legal implications for journalism practices, and Merging or plagiarizing? The role of originality and derivative works in AI-aimed news production.
