Author: Alexander de Villa Dei
Year of publication and edition: early 14th century, probably copied in Catalonia
Medium and language of the work: parchment, in Latin
Method of acquisition: transferred by IES Jaume Balmes secondary school
What makes it unique: It is the oldest bound document in UPF’s bibliographic collection. It is a parchment manuscript, most likely written at the turn of the 14th century, featuring blue or red initial capitals, some small marginalia, and the occasional annotation in Catalan.
Contents:  It is a Latin grammatical treatise written in verse that was widely circulated and greatly influential, from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance, at universities and schools across Europe.

The most historic (the first book catalogued at UPF)

What makes it unique: It is the first book ever catalogued at UPF, approximately between July and September 1990.
Contents: It recounts the career of John Sculley, one of the great American entrepreneurs of the late 20th century.

The most borrowed

Title (and catalogue access): Atlas de anatomía humana [de] Sobotta

Author: Johannes Sobotta
Year and date of publication and publisher: 2000, Editorial Médica Panamericana (20th edition)

Method of acquisition: purchase
What makes it unique: It has been borrowed more times than any other book: the current count is 250 loans. 
Contents: It is a widely reprinted anatomy manual, first published in 1904 by the German anatomist Johannes Sobotta (1869-1945).

The tiniest

What makes it unique: It is the smallest book in the UPF collection: it measures 5 x 3.7 x 2 cm and is 608 pages long.
