Drone design workshop - understanding and improving collaborative learning

Drone design workshop - understanding and improving collaborative learning

Description

Workshops created in collaboration with Bonadron and Pompeu Fabra University, with the aim to develop state-of-the-art skills through the task of creating parts of drones. Workshops will be conducted in an innovative environment, as part of research in the field of technology in education. Participants will work in groups where the team worker gets to the solution and helps create new learning methodologies.

During the collaborative process, they will learn how to create a conceptual solution, discuss, make decisions and produce the desired output. During the collaborative process, the drone will be used as an auxiliary means in order for participants to get a better sense of the requirements. Participants will learn how to use ThinkerCad software and by that acquire the skills they can use in other design tasks. During the activity, collaborative parameters will be measured (movements, electrodermal and voice activity), in order to better understand and improve the collaboration process. In this way, the workshop will provide data to researchers about the collaborative learning and the way collaborations work in teams during the design process. These data will be used for research to understand ways of learning in a collaborative setting create new learning designs and improve models of collaborative student work models and more effectively create knowledge.ge on the methodology of design through collaborative learning.

Participants will learn how to design a new object (part of a drone) through defined design phases and thus effectively generate the solution and acquire knowledge on effective methodology of design. Main goal: Conduct research about educational technologies by conducting workshops in the smart learning environment. Develop design thinking with participants.

Audience: young people, >14 years old

Questions related to the workshop:

  • Can we provide new ideas for the Bonadrone based on the ideas of participants?
  • Can we improve collaborative learning using technology in smart learning environment?
Competencies/learning objectives:
  • Learn to design: To organize the design process itself and apply appropriate techniques in collaborative learning setting.
  • Participate in the design of drone - a technological device with wide application and understand the process and device itself.
  • Acquire collaborative skills, and learn how to think, express oneself, make decisions etc in the team.
  • Understand aspects of collaborative learning.
