Thesis
A doctoral thesis is an original academic work that represents the culmination of the training process for a researcher. This thesis is presented and defended before an academic committee as part of the process to obtain a Doctoral degree, and it qualifies the student as an independent researcher in the field of research, development, and innovation (R+D+i).
During the thesis writing period, the PhD candidate develops the skills and abilities necessary to conduct independent and rigorous research. The doctoral thesis is a demonstration of the level achieved by the researcher in training, as it presents original results obtained through their research. It includes selecting a topic of interest, a comprehensive review of existing literature, designing an appropriate methodology, data collection and analysis, as well as writing and structuring the work.
The process culminates with the public defense of the thesis, where the candidate presents their results and arguments before the committee, which evaluates the quality of the research and the candidate's ability to defend and justify their findings. The end result is the contribution of new knowledge to the field of study and the demonstration of the researcher’s competencies as an independent professional.
