27.04.2018

Pompeu Fabra University, through the GRITIM-UPF research group, is organizing the 15th IMISCOE Annual Conference (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion), the biggest network of researchers in Europe in the field of migration and integration. Under the title “Europe, migrations and the Mediterranean: human mobilities and intercultural challenges”, it will be held from 2 to 4 July 2018 on the Ciutadella campus.

The aim of the meeting, which is already open for registrations (until June 1) is to create synergies between the experts that facilitate the development of public research programmes and policies on migration in the Mediterranean. It also aims to highlight the geographical dimension of migration and approach human mobilities as a reality, a resource and an opportunity to connect societies and cities in this area.

According to Ricard Zapata-Barrero, full professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at UPF, director of  GRITIM-UPF and president of the congress, “at this meeting we will analyse the causes and consequences of human mobility in the Mediterranean and the importance of having a city-based approach, in contact the diversity management, by means of an intercultural policy paradigm”.
