Functions

The Delegate for Knowledge Transfer in Social Sciences and Humanities has de following powers and tasks:

  • Support for the knowledge transfer policy, entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives and public-private collaboration in the field of social sciences and humanities.

Curricula

PhD in Operations Research from Cornell University, New York, USA. She is a Full Professor at the Economics and Business Department, University Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain and affiliated professor at Barcelona School of Management. She has also a B.A. and Master degree in Statistics and Operations Research from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and a Master degree in Operations Research from Cornell University, New York, USA.

Helena has published numerous articles in prestigious international scientific journals and she has presented her work in many international conferences, given several invited plenary talks. Her research interests include Operations Research, Scheduling, Combinatorial Optimization, Metaheuristics, Iterated Local Search, Heuristic Search Optimization, Vehicle Routing, and applications on Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management and Health Care. She has been involved in different competitive, national and international, research projects and, recently, she has been leading research projects on the general topic of “Operations Research for Social Good”. She has worked as a consultant for different business companies and other institutions in the area of Operations Research and Logistics.

She teaches at various undergraduate, master’s and PhD programs at UPF and other universities in Europe, USA and Australia. She is currently the director of the Business Analytics Research Group (BARG). The group focuses on transforming data into insights by applying advanced analytical methods to improve the performance of an organization.
