Meditation Classroom
UPF offers to the university community the possibility of doing activities related to meditation.
Theatre Workshop
The Theatre Workshop is the University’s own permanent theatre company, created during the 1990-1991 academic year, when the University was just starting out. It is assessed by the Teatre Lliure and is directed by Guillem-Jordi Graells. Previous directors include Josep Maria Mestres (1995-1999) and Pep Anton Gómez (from 2000 to the present).
Throughout the year, the Theatre Workshop participates in the preparation and animation of University events such as the Christmas celebrations and the delivery of the Sant Jordi Awards. It also participates with its performances at several university theatre festivals.
Voice workshop
Individual voice technique lessons (duration= 1 h) are given weekly by Aída Vera, conductor of UPF Choir, as a basis for recovering your voice to make proper use of it in all aspects:
- Spoken (lecturers, speakers, correcting hoarseness, actors, etc.)
- Singing (soloists of different styles: pop, light, lyrical; choir singers)
Choir
Since it was founded, the Choir provides its members with a knowledge of music through musical, historical and stylistic training. The current director of the Choir is the soprano Aída Vera.
Choir rehearsals prepare its members for a repertoire that includes basic pieces such as Gaudeamus igitur, a classical programme (Mozart, Bach, Handel...), and traditional choral works and stage music (theatre and musical comedy), including pieces by such authors as Gershwin, Sondheim, Bernstein and Weill.
Throughout the year, the Choir performs at University ceremonies and events and represents UPF on various external choir-singing circuits.
CORE-Talk
The mission of CORE is to create a space with an international profile that encourages interdisciplinary knowledge transfer, in order to strengthen the ties of the academic community specialized in communication and social sciences.
Humanistic Dialogues
Through this initiative, UPF offers a season of conferences in the form of dialogues, generally dealing with a current affair, from the humanistic perspective as appreciated by the two guest experts. The complete sessions can be seen on the Humanistic Dialogues website.
Debating League
The debating league is a competition that enables putting public speaking skills into practice.
It has become an instrumental activity in the strategic framework of UPF and promotes activities surrounding the acquisition of communication skills, social responsibility and attracting talent.
Currently, UPF organizes debating leagues aimed at university students, secondary and high school students, prison inmates and eleventh grade students at risk of social exclusion (Horitzons project).
Minor in Cultural Creation and Practice
The Mínor in Cultural Creation and Practice aims to offer transversal training in skills associated with the world of culture so that students are able to create, design, produce and manage cultural projects correctly and effectively in the academic and professional sphere. This general objective can be achieved with the set of training activities that make up the minors, where work is carried out in different areas of creation and culture.
Minor in Digital Narrative and Creation
This minor offers a transdisciplinary training programme for students who wish to specialise in the study and creation of digital narratives and arts, and covers fields such as interactive narrative, video games, transmedia narrative and artistic production linked to new technologies.
Minor in Digital Humanities
This proposal should serve as an introduction to the Digital Humanities, which are increasingly fundamental for the professional and academic future. The practice of Digital Humanities allows for the construction of a meeting point between the posing of questions related to the human sciences and their resolution by digital means.
Minor in Humanistic Studies in Art
This minor provides students with specific knowledge and, at the same time, methodological perspectives specific to the field of art history and theory.
Chamber Orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1994 as an Instrumental Ensemble, to provide a meeting place for UPF students and teaching staff. Since the 2006-2007 academic year, as the group grew in size, the UPF Chamber Orchestra emerged, organizing an annual season of six concerts inside and outside the University, with a total of two programmes per academic year . Its repertoire ranges from works by Bach and Vivaldi to compositions by contemporary composers such as Hindemith and Genzmer, through Mozart and Mendelssohn, among others. Soloists like David Veiga (violin), Pilar Guarné (piano) and Estela Rodríguez (bassoon) have collaborated with the orchestra. Diego Miguel Urzanqui has conducted the Chamber Orchestra since the 2002-2003 academic year.
Cultural routes
UPF offers outings which combine routes through cultural and natural heritage, highlighting the landscape, the architectonic and artistic monuments as well as archaeological sites. The routes are led by expert guides in cultural landscapes, the history of architecture, archaeology and art. The team has worked directly in fields related to academic research into cultural and natural landscapes, and they'll share this knowledge with you in an entertaining and educational way.
