  • Presentation

    • This simultaneous studies programme is a special degree programme, a two-area training, which allows students to recieve two degrees in a term of five years. It's built from the Degree in Humanities and the Degree in Journalism and it combines the curriculum of both two courses, simultaneously taken. The fact that both degrees complement each other is appreciated when entering the labor sector.

      Depending on how these two degrees are combined, the programme offers these two options:

      Degree in Humanities - Degree in Journalism
      Degree in Journalism - Degree in Humanities

      • Curriculum Journalism (Branch Humanities) - Humanities, start of studies in Journalism from the academic year 2021-22, start of studies in Humanities from the academic year 23/24. Equivalence table
      • Curriculum Journalism (Branch Humanities) - Humanities, from 2018-19 course 
      • Curriculum Journalism (Branch Humanities) - Humanities, from 2015-16 course.

       

    • All students, when ended their training, must be capable of applying these competences:

      Humanities

      • Understanding and interpreting reasonably and appropiately written texts and oral discourses (conferences, debates, etc.) and other kinds of academic documents (images, maps, etc.).
      • Being able to summarize and integrate information included in written texts, oral discourses and visual documents.
      • Justifyng and reasoning one's opinions and defending them publicly, in front of an experienced and inexperienced audience
      • Communicating properly orally and in written language in Catalan and Spanish, as well as being able to make a satisfactory use of the English language with academic objectives.
      • Familiarizing with learning and using a second foreign language.
      • Using information technologies, as well as their corresponding applications, needed for the academic and professional activity in humanities.
      • Being able to work in teams, respecting different opinions in a setting of pluralism and tolerance.
      • Applying and adapting with flexibility and creativity acquired knowledge in new contexts and situations.
      • Progressing in an autonomous and continuated way in training and learning.
      • Searching, selecting, managing and creating information and contents.

      Journalism

      • Writing and creating written and audiovisual press products in various genres (written information, reports, opinion articles, etc.)
      • Bein able to use basic techology that various written or electronic broadcasting plaforms incorporate.
      • Possessing enough intellectual grounding to be able to grow in a complex world. 
      • Assume the ethic principles derived from considering information as a basic social benefit in a democratic society.

    • Humanities

      You will find career prospects in a wide variety of sectors. Some of the career prospects listed below are well-known (such as cultural tourism, editorial tasks or teaching). Some other are new occupations that have appeared thanks to new information and communication technologies.       • Culture management, managing cultural websites, and managing net.art and cyberculture.
      • Preserving, interpreting, promoting and animating cultural heritage in archeological parks, museums, foundations, enterprises or associations related to culture and heritage.
      • Exposition evaluation and museographic projects.
      • A variety of editorial tasks, such as directing editorial lines and editing texts.
      • Exposition curator and museum sector conservation.
      • Information and communication in the culture are, designing cultural educational material and educational activities for museums and cultural organizations.
      • Cooperation and development in non-governmental organization or public administration.
      • Cultural consultancy and dynamism 
      • Elaborating and managing contents in traditional media (written press, textbooks...) and electronical media (websites...)
      • Community management.
      • Professional activity related to cultural and leisure industries, such as cultural event management.
      • Professional activity related to company team personnel configuration and management.
      • Non-university teaching.
      • Cultural tourism.

      The UPF's Career Services (CS) offers a series of activities and services adressed to students of the latest courses and UPF alumni in order to favor ties between the students' learning period and their professional lives, and progressively develops a specific program about entrepreneur culture between future graduates.

      The offer that CS proposes throughout the whole course continues beyond graduation, during professional work. The addressees of activities and services offered by CS are the students of the later courses and alumni of the UPF.

      Journalism

      • Journalistic information.
      • Journalism professional in any media platform that develop their activities creating news contents and using the various genres typical of information media. This comprises the job of editor, reporter, presenter and director of one or many of the aforementioned platforms, including desing, writing and execution of audio-visual or multimedia reports and documentaries.
      • Institutional communication.
      • Professional of a press office or communication of a public or private institution to ccoordinate or execute any work of an informative or communicative kind that the organization needs.
      • Consultancy.
      • Specialist in communication phenomena and processes. current or prospective, for all kind of public and private organizations; abilities for mediation, advice, consultancy, measurament, and expertise.

    • The Humanities and Journalism (Humanities itinerary) simultaneous studies progam -both started in Humanities or Journalism- is facilitated by the fact that the degree of Journalism's (Humanities itinerary) curriculum shares a 50% of the credits of the first and second years with the degree of Humanities'.

      Besides, the degree of Journalism allows to take as optional subjects that are compulsary and basic of the degree of Humanities in order to be a part of the Journalism studies, which allows one to do the simultaneous studies program in a reasonable time.

      It depends the year that the student start the degree in Journalism, they have to take:

      Course 2018/2019 -362 ECTS

      Course 2021/2022 -376 ECTS

      The students have to request joining to the simultaneous studies program, in the period of time stablished by the university, once enrolled in the second year of the degree of Humanities or the degree of Journalism (Humanities itinerary).

      In order to continue with the planning of the program, it is suggested that the student is enrolled in the second year of the degree of Humanities or in the second year of the degree of Journalism (Humanities itinerary) at the moment of requesting the participation in this program.

      In order to advance toward the following courses, the admitted students will have to obtain the amount of credits planned in the regulations in five years, according to the academic ordinance established for this modality of the program that combines both degrees.

      The students will have to request the recognition of subjects with concordant contents, once passed in the corresponding degree, in order to be incorporated to the academic record of the other degree.
