Juan José Ganuza has been appointed President of the Economy and Business Area within the Coordination, Evaluation, and Scientific and Technical Monitoring Division of the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación, AEI).

In this role Professor Ganuza will oversee the allocation of critical research funding programmes, including Ramón y Cajal and I3 grants, as well as research projects managed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and select regional governments. This appointment underscores his expertise in guiding impactful research initiatives that shape the academic and scientific landscape in Spain.

A distinguished scholar and full professor at UPF since 2009, Professor Ganuza's research interests include competition policy, industrial organisation, and digital economy. His research is extensive, and he has been published in top journals such as Econometrica and the Journal of Industrial Economics.
