Opened the deadline for presenting as volunteer students of the Horitzons Project

The deadline for submitting applications remains open until the 20th of October
06.10.2017

The Horitzons Project aims to appoint current university students as mentors of high school students who are not familiar with the concept of “University” or “Higher Education” in their immediate surroundings.

Each year the Horitzons Project selects a few UPF volunteer students who, for an academic year, visit a number of high schools in Barcelona regularly in order to provide secondary school students with references on what it means to study at university and how to do it.

What does a UPF volunteer do?

  • Attend specific training at UPF.
  • Prepare the sessions to be imparted at high schools.
  • Meet the students in high schools (one hour per week for 8 sessions).
  • Inform the high school of any unforeseen topic before or during the scheduled sessions.
  • Meet with the UPF Horitzons Project team for planning sessions and follow-up.
  • Develop a group evaluation with the high school students.
  • Organize the student’s final visit to UPF.
  • Elaborate an individual evaluation of the students at the end of the project.

Which institutes take part in this project?

In 2017-18, the following Barcelona High Schools participate in the Horitzons Project:
  • Institut Milà i Fontanals
  • Institut Pau Claris
  • Institut Joan Salvat-Papasseit
  • Institut Miquel Tarradell

The Horitzons Project is led by the Center for Learning Innovation and Knowledge (CLIK), the Library and IT teams (CRAI) and the University Community Assistance Service (SACU) with the collaboration of the teachers of the Academic Coordination Units of Economics and Business and Political and Social Sciences.
