Two distinct lines of aid have been opened under the 2026 Refugee Fund:

• Extraordinary Call: Specifically for the Palestinian population, with priority given to residents of the Gaza Strip.

• Ordinary Call: Intended for students in need of refugee status from any country of origin who meet the requirements of the regulatory framework.

Students (bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree) from UPF's own centers who find themselves in any of the following legal situations:

• Persons with legal refugee status or with the right to subsidiary protection.

• Applicants for or beneficiaries of international or temporary protection.

• Stateless persons or those in the process of recognition.

• Persons in akin situations of need for refugee status.

Applicants must be at least officially accepted or pre-enrolled when submitting the application. Nevertheless, if they receive the grant, they are required to enroll within the established deadlines. As a general rule, they must enroll in at least 50% of the credits of an academic year (unless it is the final year of their degree).

The grants are determined according to the personal situation of each applicant and may include:

• Full exemption from official tuition fees.

• Monthly allowance for living expenses (up to a maximum of €600 gross/month, for a maximum of 12 months).

• Accommodation in university halls of residence.

• Temporary loan of a laptop computer.

• Access to Catalan language courses, psychological support (SAP), mentoring, and the possibily of punctual legal support.

The calls do not cover the expenses or the management of obtaining a student visa, nor do they cover the transportation costs to travel to Catalonia.

• Extraordinary call (Palestine/Gaza): The deadline ends on July 6, 2026 (inclusive).

• Ordinary call: The deadline ends on September 24, 2026 (inclusive).

• The call for Gaza has a total allocation of €20,000.

• The ordinary call has a total allocation of €30,000 (this amount may be increased with any remaining funds from the extraordinary call).

Applications must be submitted using the standardized form available on the UPF Solidària website. This can be done via:

• Online: Through the general electronic application (instància general electrònica) on the UPF e-Office. In the "I REQUEST" (DEMANO) section, you must clearly state the name of the specific call (GAZA or Ordinària) and address it to UPF SOLIDÀRIA.

• In person (Ordinary call only): At the University's General Registry, submitting the original form with a handwritten signature.

In addition to the application form, the following documents must be attached:

• Proof of legal status (refugee status, international protection, etc.).

• Motivation letter explaining and justifying the need for the grant.

• Documentation certifying socioeconomic vulnerability.

• Any other document that the applicant considers relevant to their case.

⚠️ Note: All documentation must be submitted in (or include a translation into) Catalan, Spanish, or English.

The instruction of the procedure is carried out by the Sustainability, Attention, and University Commitment service (SACU) through UPF Solidària. An evaluation committee will score the applications (up to 100 points) based on the level of studies, vulnerability, academic record, and motivation.

Once the proposal is communicated, the person has 10 business days to send the signed acceptance. Additionally, they have a deadline of 3 months to appear in person before the instructing unit and sign the Follow-up Commitment for the study plan; if they fail to do so, the grant will be cancelled.
