Influencing the scientific community
- We are co-leading the creation of a Working Group on Gender in Science in the context of the SOMM Alliance (the network of Severo Ochoa Centers and María de Maeztu Units in Spain). The first event took place in Madrid in October 2019, where we presented the results of the first survey on Gender issues across the center. 1st SOMMA Gender event
- In June 2019, Aurelio Ruiz gave an invited talk at the award ceremony of the premis equit@t organised by UOC.
- Since 2017, Gender in Science is one of the compulsary training subjects in the ICT PhD program.
Supporting female professionals in ICT and research:
We have stopped compiling contributions to media by our members to talk about STEAM and gender, given the wide and continuous coverage since 2019.

- Promotion of the participation of UPF scientists in awards and events targetting female researchers. Most recent awards include Jordina Torrents (Google Techmakers 2017), Glòria Macià (TopTal STEM scholarship 2017). UPF scientists regularly take part and get scholarships for events such as Womencourage or Grace Hooper celebration.
- Gender and Technology by Civic Lab Barcelona
- We support this effort by Civic Lab Barcelona, OuiShare and Autentika to run initiatives based on Civic Tech related to the fight to reduce the digital gender gap and break the glass ceiling that makes it difficult for women in technology
