A new Panel Discussion in the War on Immigrants Series under the title "Europe's Retreat from Refugee Protection and Fundamental Rights", organized by GRITIM-UPF and DemoSoc, and coordinated by John Palmer, will be led by Lorenzo Gabrielli, a GRITIM-UPF Senior Research, and Cristina Mas, a journalist at Ara Newspaper.
This talk is free and open to Public, and it will cover the increasingly repressive immigration policies of the European Union and its member states. From militarized responses to migrants at sea to the criminalization of rescue operations, third country return agreements, and border externalization, Europe has taken a sharp turn away from any commitment to refugee protection and fundamental rights. The talk is part of an ongoing series on the escalation of anti-immigrant policies around the world.
