We welcome our new visiting researcher Sarah Werner Boada from University of Warwick, United Kingdom!

Dr. Sarah Werner Boada (she/her) is a Marie Skłodowska–Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (EUTOPIA-SIF COFUND) affiliated with the Department of Sociology and the Institute of Advanced Study at the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) since 2022, as well as a visiting researcher at GRITIM-UPF in May-June 2023. Her current research project (2022-2024) examines decisions to remove children from Romani and Traveller families in England and Spain from an intersectional perspective. Previously, she was a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Gender Studies of the Central European University (Vienna, Austria), where she taught at the postgraduate level.

A mother-scholar, qualitative researcher and supporter of feminist pedagogy, her teaching and research interests include Gender Violence, Motherhood studies, Antigypsyism, and other forms of inequality under neoliberal governance. She has also worked in policy advocacy, in collaboration with various intergovernmental and umbrella organisations, in the fields of gender violence and children’s rights.

She is a member of the British Sociological Association, the International Association of Maternal Action and Scholarship, and the French-speaking gender violence research network, “VisaGe”. She serves on the Advisory Board of the project “Research Action against Antigypsyism and Anti-Muslim Discrimination” (REACT), led by Dr. Zenia Hellgren.
