The Chair presented the 2025 report during its annual meeting
This morning, the Commission of the Ideograma-UPF Chair in Political Communication and Democracy met to hold its annual meeting, during which the 2025 report was presented.
The meeting was attended by Carles Pont, Director of the Chair; Reinald Besalú, Deputy Director; and Cristian Lozano, Coordinator. On behalf of Ideograma, its Deputy Director, Santiago Castelo, was present. Additionally, representing Pompeu Fabra University, Pau Fernández, Head of Institutional Fundraising, and Cristina Gorgues, Head of the Management and Administration Unit of the Department of Communication, took part.
During the session, the main results achieved by the Chair were reviewed in terms of research impact, knowledge transfer activities, and dissemination. Among the most notable achievements were the publication of the report on news credibility in LATAM and the book Influencers and Political Communication. The two academic articles published in 2025 were also discussed: How Good Are Older Adults at Detecting Fake News? Analysis of News Credibility among Spaniards and Proposal for a Social Media-Focused Emergency Communications Protocol Based on a Scoping Review and Expert Validation.
Regarding the most significant activities, the book presentation held in September at Fábrica Lehmann, Ideograma’s headquarters, was highlighted, as well as the conference on emergency communication. The latter took place in October and was co-organized with the Fundación Democracia Libre and the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Finally, the main strategic lines for 2026 were outlined. Among the most relevant projects, the continuation of the Talent and Training Program and the organization of the presentation event for the fifth Ideograma-UPF Award were highlighted. In the field of research, it was agreed to focus on artificial intelligence, credibility, and political communication, as well as on the study of anti-media discourse and the continuation of the crisis and emergency communication line.
The Ideograma-UPF Chair was established in 2018 with the aim of promoting research, training, and dissemination in political communication and its impact on democratic systems. Since then, it has driven a wide range of projects and activities, including the publication of books and reports, as well as the organization of seminars and workshops aimed at both specialized audiences and the general public.
