The Generalitat de Catalunya, through ACCIÓ - the agency for the competitiveness of the company, which depends on the Department of Enterprise and Knowledge - has accredited 9 new Catalan entities with the TECNIO seal, one of which belong to BCN MedTech (research unit of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC), María de Maeztu Center of the UPF). With these additions, there are currently five centers and research units of UPF that are part of this technological network of the Generalitat de Catalunya that recognizes the leading technological innovation in our country.

This accreditation aims to promote technology transfer in Catalonia and identify Catalan entities that offer technology to companies, especially SMEs, to make them more competitive and innovative.

Thus, in total there are already 81 Catalan entities accredited with the TECNIO seal between research groups, CERCA and CSIC centers, universities, technological centers, hospital and engineering institutes and technology-based companies. This seal allows SMEs and Catalan companies to know where to go if they need technology to develop or improve new products, facilitate access to new partners and strategic suppliers to solve technological challenges and facilitate their participation in international and local I + programs D of innovation. In this sense, ACCIÓN also promoted INNOTEC, a line of grants aimed at Catalan SMEs that carry out R & D and innovation projects in collaboration with the agents that have the TECNIO seal.
