Our research focuses in image segmentation and registration, statistical shape analysis, pattern recognition and image-based personalized computational models.

We have also a strong interest in developing and applying machine learning techniques for the extraction of clinically useful information for the understanding of disease apparition and evolution, and for computed-aided diagnosis and treatment

We are involved as well  in bio-image analysis by doing microscopy analysis, synchrotron detailed imaging, cell tracking ... translating our medical expertise/tools to the biology field.

Research on clinical applications focuses amongst others on cardiovascular and neurological diseases. Some examples are:

•Brain image analysis for foetal and neonatal brain development, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer

•Cardiac image analysis for the study of abnormalities in the cardiac structure and function
