M. Teresa Cabré has been invited to China by the National Languages Committee and has been recognised as International Member of the Institute for Language Policy and Standards of China. She has been invited as an Emeritus Professor of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and as a member of the Secció Filològica of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC), and also for her experience in Applied linguistics, Lexicography and Terminology.

During the visit she gave five conferences at different universities in Beijing and Shanghai and she also met with representatives of several institutes that work with language management; the National Terminology Committee; the most important dictionary publishing company in China; and she met as well with academicians specialised in foreign language studies and translation from different universities. After this visit, there is a great opportunity to stablish a line of cooperation with the IEC in terms of languages standardization criteria and also the opportunity to initiate several exchange and cooperation projects between the UPF, the Beijing Language and Culture University and the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the Shanghai International Studies University.
