Culture and society in Spain

This 30-hour face-to-face course is aimed at students who wish to get to know Spanish culture and society through its history, its politics, its art, its costums and its traditions. To this end, students will be offered a vision of the Spanish society of the last decades through different cultural manifestations and representative artists, a deep-dive into Spain’s historical and political evolution, an introduction to the national identity and its different manifestations, and an analysis of some of the current-day issues which concern Spanish people (young people, the role of the monarchy, the economic situacion, unemployment, immigration, sports, nationalist movements, etc.). This information will allow students to obtain a complete and precise image of current Spain, in order to understand it and also to become entangled in its culture and society more consciously.
