On May 29th, 30th and 31st, Manel Jiménez traveled to the Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris) to discuss with international experts how to build a link between research and teaching at the university.

Through numerous workshops the group explored strategies on how to impregnate teaching with the impact and results of research, and designed proposals to also make teaching contribute to research. Participants in the thematic group came from the Humboldt Universities of Berlin (Germany), the Pierre et Marie Curie University (France), the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom), the La Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), the Technological University of Silesia (Poland), the University of Cork (Ireland) and the University of Borås (Sweden).

"The fusion of teaching and research is key to the University," says Jiménez. "For example, teachers should promote the best students to join research groups after their university studies", highlights the director of CLIK, who this year incorporated the concept of "research + teaching fusion" to the strategic lines of the PlaCLIK grants.

The thematic group, after meeting in Berlin, Barcelona and Paris, will present the results in a report at the European Learning & Teaching Forum, which will take place on 28-29 September 2017 at the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris.
