At the CLIK’s conference "How can research and teaching work together?" Paul Blackmore will speak about the current existing contradiction in universities of combining teaching and research compared to the small number of professors who actually dedicate themselves to both tasks.

"In many countries there is a strong tradition that members of faculty both teach and research," says Blackmore. "These linkages are beneficial but they often have to be deliberately made, by action at institutional, departmental and individual levels. Doing so provides an opportunity to think again about what we mean by research and by teaching, and to identify the learning that is at the heart of both."

Professor Blackmore is an expert in international and national strategies on strategic curriculum change and academic prestige, and has led research and development centers at the universities of Warwick, Coventry and Kings in the UK.

Throughout his professional career he has participated in different studies and reports and published several books such as Strategic curriculum change in universities: global trends (2012) or Prestige in academic life: Excellence and exclusion (2016), where he analyzed the differences and motivations of the academic life. Blackmore was awarded a UK National Teaching Fellowship award in 2013 for excellence in teaching.
