The second edition of the Hacklab awards has been won by the ColLabSTOCK project, designed by Carla Castignani, Laura Jiménez, Beatriz Urda and Alda Savalic, which is a web app which allows the digitalisation of laboratories and creates an effective network for the management and exchange of material between them. The jury gave them the maximum number of points for the app’s relevance, originality, knowledge exchange, the development of the idea and its external impact. The award comes with a prize of €600, €400 for the project and a cheque for €200 to spend at FNAC.
The awards, which took place on the 16th of May during the Third Hacklab Workshop Day on the Poblenou campus, also recognised two more projects with special mentions. Firstly, UPF in Time, which was created by Diego Rodríguez and Pol Valls, is a mobile app directed at students with the aim of facilitating their access to their class timetables in a fast, effective and up to date way. Secondly, PerspectivaMente, a web platform that offers content, information and tools to adults and families with mental health support needs. This project was designed by Marta Michans and Vanesa Ortega. The special mentions come with a prize of two cheques for €200 to spend at FNAC.

The jury valued the relevance, originality, knowledge exchange, the development of the idea and the external impact of the winning project.

The HackLab awards recognise the best innovative initiatives with the aim of promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas and collaboration in multidisciplinary learning initiatives amongst the UPF university community. During the workshop day, the following group projects and experiences were also presented:

  • Blanc Trencat (Special mention in the 2017-2018 HackLab awards)
  • Iván García (Cravy Project with the support of the UPF Business Shuttle)
  • GameSquare (Winners of the 2017-2018 HackLab awards)

Paula Javierre and Pablo Mérida also received their prizes for finding the HackLab DNA.

Finally, there was also a networking space with snacks where the students could talk to one another and share ideas and projects.

HackLab is a co-creation workshop located in the libraries/CRAI of the different UPF campuses. It is open to the whole university community and is a space to promote, encourage and facilitate self-learning, the exchange of knowledge and ideas and the collaboration of themes such as technology, communication or the digital arts.
